I'm deeply honored to have been asked recently to contribute a newly crafted piece of music for this wonderful collection of Winter songs. I'd like to take a moment & thank Arrowyn for her consideration to become one with such a family as HEX MAGAZINE... A collection of written word I have tremendous respect for.

The following is a brief line note descriptive regarding the piece inspired by Winter:

:RUHR:HUNTER'S: "Waniyetu~Wintruz"
was composed, performed, recorded & produced by ~Chet W. Scott~

Recorded at Glass Throat Recordings of cascadian soil, upon & throughout the full moon of August, MMIX.

Instrumentation:
Ritual frame drum with horse hair beater, northern long horns, large tubular bells, blackened walnut/cedar & old growth redwood flutes, thunder gong, ritual black bear bladder & deer antler rattles, black bear/cascadian rain & spring bird environmental recordings, winter's breath chants.

"Waniyetu~Wintruz" is an early version taken from the forthcoming 3xCD full length trilogy entitled:

:Embrace:Mother:Earth:
:Hail:Father:Sky:
:Honor:Our:Sun:

The craft will feature as the initial movement to disc three ":Honor:Our:Sun:" which supports & glorifies the seasonal cyclic flow. I want to thank the folks at hex for gifting me this chance to present an early glimpse, into the next album for :RUHR:HUNTER: since the release of "Moss & Memory" MMVI.

In BLOOD OF THE BLACK OWL news, a teaser trailer has been posted featuring the last 3 minutes of the 3rd movement ("Chant of the Captured Spirit"). This sample was taken from the forthcoming full length CD "A Banishing Ritual (Into White)." Also, I've posted the album artwork along with the front image to a coinciding T-shirt... Enjoy. The album will be mastered in the coming weeks within Mell Dettmer's studio.

There is also another vinyl 12" split release in the works, featuring 2 exclusive crafts from BLOOD OF THE BLACK OWL entitled "Minutiae & Hibernation." The split will be shared with one exclusive 23 minute piece from James Woodhead's AT THE HEAD OF THE WOODS. The craft is tentatively titled "Here I Stand." James will also be handling the release's original artwork. After the release of both the next full length & the split, I plan to take on a lengthy hiatus from this endeavor, well, all for that matter to focus strictly & purely on the :RUHR:HUNTER: trilogy release.

In GLASS THROAT news for 2009, currently nothing is confirmed for release this year due to our financial status. However we are not beaten yet! There are many things on the horizon for 2010 & beyond. So for now, the following is a projected list of what's to come & some of these releases will be epic for sure. Hopefully the Gods will see it through with your continued support! Speaking of 2009, :RUHR:HUNTER: will be celebrating my 13th anniversary! My spirit's totemic awakening will commence through ritual sound & performance. A much needed healing within... Let us love & be strong once again for ourselves & our folk!

To my friends, family & supporters, as my raven talon wheel turns once more this day of birth, I felt a calling, an appropriate time to announce the very first ritual performances in honor of my craft's 13th anniversary this year...

Many details are currently being worked out & confirmed. Some of which I'm not a liberty to speak of just yet... Details I must say I'm so very excited about, blown away to be honest! However, this will all come in due time.

For now, please know there looks to be one local (Seattle) performance in late August I believe. "An Evening with :RUHR:HUNTER:" as it will be billed. A special guest will also be announced closer to the rituals date of performance. This event will ONLY be made available through an advanced, limited number of ticket/passes purchased directly through me. You would need to present this special pass at the doors opening. If you do not have said pass/ticket, you will not get in. Largely due to the level of capacity at a potential venue in question. Also, the importance of maintaining a sacred & intimate setting. Not to mention eliminating the stress of show logistics & manning a door throughout the evening, as I want all who assist my efforts to enjoy & relax. Again, details to follow...

The second of two performances this year will commence for a two day harvest festival in Nevada City, CA, just after the Autumnal Equinox in late September. This will be down right stunning environmentally & not to be missed due to the caliber of artists performing! Again, details will come soon I believe. Know that this performance will take place in the natural world... On many acres of woodlands set up for camping! So for you Bay Area & Northern CA, folk that have pined for a :R:H: performance... Well, Rachel & I hope to see you there! At this stage, the most I can say is that :RUHR:HUNTER: will be performing last one of these nights. With the sacred fire raging in front of the stage... I can't express enough how blessed I feel to be a part of this. I'm honored to have those involved with the festival believe so much in my work, to help see this awakening through... Cheers to my tribe!

If all goes well with these rituals, I will also consider my very first Winter Solstice performance... We shall see?

Fearthainne's first release represents the nadir of a journey into earth. Conceptualized and written in wild environments in the West, this collection of songs is a picture of the labyrinth traveled by a human organism seeking life outside the long shadows of unremitting gray. The seekers masquerading as musicians who have created this document have used these sounds as a conduit for the reconnection with being, and have chosen to make it available to those who might hear the voice of the Others speaking to them from within. Exclusively utilizing acoustic instrumentation, Fearthainne is the unending rain that calls forth the blossom, the harbinger of the organic future we inevitably face. A sonic expression of green in all its capacities, this project is a document of the search for Home, a declaration that we will never settle for existence in the meaningless maze of history.

As beings we have struggled for many years to imbue our lives with depth, bending our ears towards the chorus of elders that the natural world is. Brought to fruition in a culture whose theme is loss, we recognize the wisdom of Earth in the various shifts that will unravel these ten millennia of aberration, and celebrate the dawning of day for what is truly human. As participants in this calamity, we call forth those spirits of the land, sea and sky who have always borne witness to our cyclical lives, the deep mind of which we are only a part, to see us and hear our voices as we proclaim our allegiance to Life. Speaking of BLOOD OF THE BLACK OWL, I'm really happy to say the new 2nd full length album "A Feral Spirit", will soon be available for purchase. BINDRUNE RECORDINGS (US) has mentioned looking towards a July, 2008 release date for the CD (digipak) format. AURORA BOREALIS (UK) will be handling a limited edition pressing, of a 180 gram 2xLP (Black Wax Only) Gatefold. A limited edition A2 poster & SUPER LIMITED EDITION ELK HIDE BURNINGS, will also coincide with the vinyl release. Here is a picture of some of the ELK hides I've burned for this offering. All hides were rubbed with a pure & sacred mixture of ground Elk Antler & Sage...

There has also been much discussion regarding new BOTBO t-shirt designs from both BINDRUNE (US) & AURORA BOREALIS (UK). Quite possibly 3 new designs from what I understand. We shall see? Exciting news however for those into the cloth.

I'll also take this chance to mention, a 3rd (CD format only) BLOOD OF THE BLACK OWL full length release is already in progress. I'm currently in the studio crafting one of the most intense pieces of work, I've ever had the honor to be a part of. Entitled "A Banishing Ritual (Into White)," this looks to be a very lengthy piece of music, accompanied by two other unreleased songs "Minutiae & Hibernation" which have already been completed.

Again, the sacred intent falls deep within the written word of collaborator Daniel Ellis Harrod's lyrical charge. Also, James Woodhead (AT THE HEAD OF THE WOODS/ELEMENTAL CHRYSALIS) has been an amazing source of inspiration & crafting this time around, lending his energy through heavy vintage organs, acoustics & percussion. "A Banishing Ritual's" four movements comprise of:

"Intent"
"The Statement of Will"
"Chant of the Captured Spirit"
"The Final Banishing"

In RUHR HUNTER news, as many of you have been asking, & I thank you all dearly for the letters of support & interest. RUHR HUNTER will begin focusing on a new album, closer to the end of the year I believe. I have found myself overwhelmed as of late. As soon as I'm finished with "A Banishing Ritual," the 3rd B.O.T.B.O. craft I spoke of, I plan on taking a lengthy hiatus from my other two endeavors (B.O.T.B.O. & T.E.C.) & any collaborative efforts considered in between. With this cleansing change, shall bring a deeper understanding of a much needed mental & spiritual clarity. Focusing inward, with audible visions outward, through the ritual crafting of a musical healing practice. With breath from totem spirits to guide, a purity shall begin to unveil for the next RUHR HUNTER journey. This will also include the cleansing exploration of live ritual performance! I've heard from many of you regarding that one. The cyclic rotation of my spirits Raven Talon wheel is picking up speed! My path ascends deeper into the Earth.

As I've mentioned before, I'm still looking for the right publishing/label house, to release 3 exclusive pieces within the vinyl format. A simple EP of 3 songs crafted for exclusive compilations years back, which only one was ever released via CRUCIAL BLAST. I'm still very much in love with the spirit of these songs & would like it if folks could experience them of course. We shall see who bites on it. Last case scenario, would be a limited edition 3" CD through Glass Throat. But I really feel the analog format will lend it's ambient & tonal richness, to the crafting of these specific works... More to come!

Many of you will be very happy to know, BENEATH THE LAKE featuring: Nicolas Lampert & Dave Canterbury, have finished their 3rd full length album, which I believe is currently untitled? I've had the great honor of hearing this beautiful piece of work, in advance for quite sometime now. Last I spoke with Dave, BENEATH THE LAKE were in the beginning stages of finding a suitable home for their 3rd offering. I wish them both, all the very best in this quest. It has been a true blessing to have released their first two albums. They are truly wonderful folks & lets hope the new album will see a release sooner than later.

As I receive more information regarding the new album, I will certainly let you all know. Hopefully, my plan is to distribute copies through our catalog. The first two albums "Inside Passage" & "Silent Uprising" are still available. We urge you to check them out if you haven't already.
